Plant Gardens in All Schools

Plant Gardens in All Schools

School gardens grow healthier minds, bodies, and communities.

What’s Broken

Kids are disconnected from nature and real food.

The Fix

When kids grow food, they’re more likely to eat it. Gardens supply cafeterias and fight food apartheid. Baker Creek Seed Company, rareseeds.com, has free seeds for schools, non profits, and community gardens. To request seeds, email your details to seeds@rareseeds.com. Include your contact name, school/organization name, and shipping address (USPS).

How to Take Action

  1. Work with PTA to initiate garden program
  2. Use KidsGardening.org and FoodCorps.org toolkits
  3. Engage parents, teachers, local businesses
  4. Push for school board funding
